Dia brings back Arc’s best features in a new AI-native browser
Dia, now under Atlassian, is reviving Arc’s most popular tools in a streamlined, AI-native browser built for speed, memory, and deeper integrations.
The AI-powered browser Dia is bringing back popular features from its experimental predecessor, Arc. Josh Miller, founder of The Browser Company, confirmed that Dia is reintroducing Arc’s highlights — including the sidebar mode, auto picture-in-picture for Google Meet, and customizable keyboard shortcuts.
Though now owned by Atlassian for $610 million, Dia continues to operate independently. According to Miller, «Dia’s architecture is much better for AI, speed, and security.» The browser is also working on deeper integrations with Atlassian’s tools like Jira and Linear.
Arc debuted in 2023 with a bold redesign of web browsing: separate workspaces for personal and work use, a Spotlight-style Command Bar, and an all-in-one sidebar. But its complexity held it back. Miller wrote earlier this year that «Arc was simply too different, with too many new things to learn, for too little reward.»
Still, Arc’s experimental phase gave the team valuable insights into what users want. Those learnings now shape Dia’s development. The team is testing Arc’s signature “Spaces” feature and planning mobile updates inspired by Arc Search, set to launch in 2026.
