Adobe has officially launched its mobile version of the popular video editing tool, Premiere, for iPhone users. The release follows an early September announcement. An Android version is still in development.

The app is free to use and includes multi-track timelines, support for 4K HDR video editing, auto-generated captions, and tools to adjust color and shadows per frame. Users can also reduce background noise and enhance dialogue using a simple slider.

Several AI-powered features have been added. Using Adobe’s Firefly models, users can generate background sounds based on prompts or even convert a hum or vocal sound into effects. The same technology allows creation of stickers, images, and transition visuals. These features require additional paid credits.

Users also gain free access to Adobe’s stock library of images, sounds, and clips. Projects can start on mobile and sync to the desktop version via Adobe Cloud — although syncing from desktop to mobile is not yet available.

“We want to empower all types of creators to work. We know that the next generation of creators chooses and prefers to edit on mobile,” said Mike Folgner, Adobe’s product director, in a call with TechCrunch.

With this move, Adobe enters the competition with tools like CapCut, Meta’s Edits, Captions, and India-based InVideo.
