NotebookLM Launches on iOS and Android — Now with Offline Mode and Podcasts
Google’s AI-powered research tool NotebookLM is coming to mobile with full offline support, background audio playback, and tablet-friendly design.

On May 20, Google officially launches NotebookLM mobile apps for Android and iOS. Pre-registration is already open — the app will download automatically once released.
NotebookLM is an AI-powered research assistant introduced in the browser in 2024. It works like a “smart notebook”: you can upload PDFs, articles, YouTube links, Google Docs, or plain text. The AI analyzes the content, provides summaries, answers questions, and can even turn sources into mini podcasts. According to the source, each quote is linked to its original source.
The mobile apps introduce what many users have been waiting for. A full offline mode is now available: you can download audio summaries and listen without an internet connection. Playback continues in the background, even when the screen is locked or another app is in use.
The interface is optimized for both phones and tablets. The main screen shows a list of notebooks with a “Play” button to start audio summaries. In “Audio Player” mode, you can ask questions while listening. A bottom panel allows quick switching between sources, chat, and settings. You can add new materials using a floating button — documents, text, links, and even imports from other apps are supported.
