Perplexity Is Building Comet — A Browser with Web Agent Capabilities
Comet, the upcoming browser from Perplexity, aims to automate web sessions and act as a full web agent — including autonomous posting, session control, and more.

Perplexity is preparing to launch a new browser called Comet, which could redefine autonomous browsing. According to analysts, Comet will not only browse websites but also interact with web platforms autonomously — for example, publishing posts on X (formerly Twitter).

According to internal logs, the browser can automatically authenticate through a headless session, access platforms, and post on behalf of the user. This opens the door to automating not only social media, but also email clients, text editors, and various other web apps.
Unlike competitors such as Google’s Project Mariner or Dia by The Browser Company, Comet promises full autonomy without requiring additional browser extensions. This turns the browser into a true web agent — capable of independently completing tasks online.
Comet is expected to launch by mid-May. If the announced features deliver as promised, it could be a breakthrough in browser technology — giving users a powerful tool for content creation and automation with minimal effort.
