The Best of Google I/O 2026: Gemini 3.5, OMNI & AI Agents
Discover how Google I/O 2026 is shaping the future with Gemini 3.5 Flash, Workspace AI agents, and the Antigravity 2.0 ecosystem.
At the recent Google I/O 2026 conference, the company clearly outlined its main vector of development: the total integration of artificial intelligence into everyday services and the transition to using autonomous AI agents. The scale is impressive — the Gemini user base has already reached 900 million, and computing resource consumption is growing exponentially.
We have gathered the most important announcements from the presentation without any fluff.
Gemini 3.5 Flash: Speed Matters
Google introduced its new model, Gemini 3.5 Flash. Its main advantage is a phenomenal generation speed of 300 tokens per second. According to benchmark results, it significantly outperforms the previous 3.1 Pro version, making it an ideal choice for integration into web projects where response time is critical.
The only nuance to consider when working with this model is that its knowledge base is currently limited to 2025.
Antigravity 2.0 Ecosystem and Background Agents
The Antigravity toolkit received a major update to version 2.0 and is now positioned as a full-fledged agent environment. The system includes Antigravity CI, SDK, and a separate IDE application for those who prefer working with code conventionally and require terminal access. Crucially, the system processes Ukrainian-language prompts flawlessly and without issues, making it highly comfortable for local tasks.
AI agents for Google Workspace deserve special attention. They are capable of independently analyzing emails, preparing reports, and managing files. All these background processes run directly in the Google cloud. This means that to automate routine tasks, you no longer need to keep your computer turned on or deploy additional scripts on a VPS server.
Search Transforms into an Interactive Dashboard
Google Search is getting a massive upgrade, transforming into an information agent:
- Mini-apps in search results: Instead of text answers, the search engine will be able to generate interactive dashboards right on the results page.
- Smart notifications: You can set search parameters (for example, searching for a specific car model on marketplaces), and the AI will send a push notification as soon as a relevant listing appears.
- Image analysis: You can now upload an image directly into the search bar, and the AI will instantly determine whether it is a real photo or generated by a neural network.
OMNI Video Model and Image Editing
The new OMNI model opens up interesting possibilities for content creation. It allows for the generation of realistic digital avatars and the seamless replacement of people directly inside video clips without disrupting the original background.
In the field of image processing, Google is launching the Pix service, which solves the long-standing problem of local editing. Now you can change or remove individual objects in a generated photo without distorting the quality of the rest of the image.
Gemini for Mac and New Tariffs
A full-fledged Gemini desktop application has been announced for macOS users. Subject to permission, it will be able to interact with the file system: find the necessary documents, independently add them as email attachments, write accompanying text, and send them to the recipient strictly using voice commands.
Regarding tariffs and limits:
- A new Google AI Ultra subscription appears for $100 per month, which will already include YouTube Premium.
- The quota policy is changing: now limits are deducted based on the compute used principle. The more complex your prompt and the longer the context, the more tokens it will consume. Quota resets will occur every 5 hours.
Google I/O 2026 clearly demonstrates that the era of simple text generation is coming to an end. The time of autonomous systems that do not just answer questions but do the work for us is arriving. It remains only to wait for the deployment of all these tools in public access.
